Monday Ratings: A Fiesta for FOX

Despite two new ABC premieres, the first Monday of 2009 wasn’t an accurate picture of the weeks to come. In addition to a slate of repeats on CBS, the Fiesta Bowl was on. In fact, it’s that football game that helped give FOX a win in both the viewers and demos yesterday.

In a new wrinkle, the bachelorettes get to vote for a competitor they’d like to see leave, but Jason has the final say.” Maybe the kid should have the final say. After all, he’s the one who’ll eventually call her “evil stepmom.”

Jason Mesnick and DeAnna Pappas on The Bachelorette

Who knows? Maybe the 13th time’s a charm?

Despite a humiliating experience just last month, ‘s Jason Mesnick is determined to try again.

In July’s finale of the reality dating show, the single father from Seattle made himself vulnerable when he got down on one knee before millions of viewers. Unfortunately, shocked many when she ultimately chose skateboarder Jesse Csincsak over the 32-year-old divorcé.

Reality TV Awards Poll

Amazing Race 12

AOL recently polled over 1.3 million readers to find out what they love and hate most about reality television.

While most of the responses were entirely predictable (Best Villain: Simon Cowell), I must say there were a few winners I didn’t see coming. (Is host really worse than Julie Chen?)

Here are just some of the top vote-getters in this year’s poll:

Monday Ratings: Repeats On Top

With The Bachelorette now over, Monday nights once again belonged to the repeats. Although it was tight race, FOX managed to snare wins in both categories from CBS.

Monday Ratings: Weak Premiere for American Gladiators

Why NBC chose to bring back American Gladiators at this time is beyond me.  Had the show debuted after the latest round of finales, it might have fared better than fourth place.  Meanwhile, ABC was another winner with the viewers while FOX was tops in the demos.

This Week on TV (4/21-4/27)

Ugly Betty, America Ferrera

(You can view TV Envy’s Post-Strike Television Schedule here.)

MONDAY (4/21)
  • Gossip Girl (CW, 8pm):  New episode.  “A dethroned Blair musters up the strength to head back to school, and Jenny tries to keep up with the financial demands of the in-crowd.”  Mondays are always better when other people are miserable.
  • Deal or No Deal (NBC, 8pm):  George Bush provides support to a war vet going for the million.  After three tours in Iraq, the President figured it was the least he could do.
  • How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8:30):  If you can’t handle the thought of humming a tune about sandcastles over and over again, this might not be the episode for you.
  • The Bachelor: London (ABC, 10pm):  “Matt accompanies Amanda, Chelsea, Noelle and Shayne to their hometowns.”  Being allowed to live in the U.S. takes more than just a sham marriage.  It means faking it with her family too.
